Top 15 Films Of 2016 – Allen’s Picks
When I was a kid, I couldn’t wait to grow up. Adults got to do all the cool things. Every year seemed to drag by at a snail’s pace. Now that I actually am an adult, time has been moving way too fast. I keep thinking, “Damn, where did the time go?” or “Wait, we’re already at the end of the year?” Can we slow things down a little bit, please?
But as my existential crisis intensifies with each passing year, there is one thing that I look forward to: sharing my favorite movies. Sure, listing works of art is irrelevant in the grand scheme of things, but to hell with all that, it’s fun. There were a lot of good films released in 2016, and if any of the titles I present here catches your fancy, I can say that writing this long thing out was worth it.
As has become tradition, we start off this year’s list by naming a bunch of honorable mentions. Mind you: just because these films didn’t make the final fifteen doesn’t mean they are not worth seeking out. All of them are very good, and deserve your attention.
